Build the route

Build a gentle nano tannins route

Use the pack in stages across a nano or breeding setup so the tint and grazing surfaces build slowly.

Product story

Shrimp Breeding / Low-Impact Nano Tannins Pack in use

A controlled low-impact nano tannins leaf pack for 10–30L shrimp breeding tanks, nano aquariums and gentle blackwater setups, with Catappa, Bodhi and Guava leaves for steady tannin release, grazing surfaces and juvenile cover.

Why aquarists use it

Shrimp breeding tanks and racks, Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp keepers

What it does

It supports a more natural, observed aquarium route when introduced gradually and used alongside stable husbandry.

What it does not do

It does not replace stable husbandry, diagnose livestock problems, cure disease or promise instant water-parameter changes.

Essential details and safety

Use slowly, observe livestock and avoid chasing instant changes. BBA product pages are guidance for careful aquarium use, not veterinary or medical advice.

Preparation notes

  • Rinse all botanicals before use. Ideal for a 10–30 L shrimp aquarium when used in full, added gradually over 1–3 weeks. Optional: pre-soak in hot water for 15–30 minutes to help leaves sink and soften faster. Add a few leaves first, observe for 24–72 hours, then add more if desired. Top up or replace every 4–6 weeks depending on breakdown, grazing and water colour.

Safety notes

  • For ornamental freshwater aquarium use only.
  • Botanicals are natural habitat and enrichment tools, not substitutes for stable aquarium care.
  • Not for human consumption.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Natural products vary in size, colour, shape and texture.
  • Some leaves may float at first and sink later; pre-soaking can help.
  • Botanicals may release tannins and soften the visual tone of the water.
  • No instant pH promise and no livestock-care shortcut claim.
  • Remove if livestock show stress.

Method reminders

Prepare, add gradually, observe

How should this be introduced?

Prepare as appropriate, add a small amount first and watch livestock and water clarity for 24-72 hours before adding more.

Is natural variation normal?

Yes. Botanical and prepared aquarium products can vary in size, colour, shape, texture, tint and breakdown speed.

Does this guarantee water parameter changes?

No. The BBA method is deliberately careful: products can support a route, but they do not promise instant pH, GH or KH results.

End route

Not sure how much to add?

Use the route guidance before building a heavy botanical layout, especially for shrimp, nano and soft-water tanks.
