Essential details and safety

Use slowly, observe livestock and avoid chasing instant changes. BBA product pages are guidance for careful aquarium use, not veterinary or medical advice.

Preparation preview

  • Rinse briefly before use if desired.
  • Add a small amount first, especially in nano tanks or soft / low-KH water.
  • Use directly as leaf litter or place inside a small media bag for easier removal.
  • Optional: pre-soak in hot water for 15–30 minutes to help the pieces sink faster.
  • Add more gradually depending on the colour you want and livestock response.
  • Replace or top up as the pieces soften, break down or are consumed.

Safety notes

  • This listing is for crushed / broken Catappa leaf pieces, not whole leaves.
  • Natural leaf pieces vary in size, colour, texture and shape.
  • Do not overdose, especially in small or very soft-water aquariums.
  • Botanicals may release tannins and soften the visual tone of the water.
  • This product is a natural aquarium botanical, not a medication.
  • For ornamental aquarium use only.
  • Not for human consumption.
  • No instant pH promise and no livestock treatment claim.
  • Remove if livestock show stress.

Method reminders

Prepare, add gradually, observe

How should this be introduced?

Prepare as appropriate, add a small amount first and watch livestock and water clarity for 24-72 hours before adding more.

Is natural variation normal?

Yes. Botanical and prepared aquarium products can vary in size, colour, shape, texture, tint and breakdown speed.

Does this guarantee water parameter changes?

No. The BBA method is deliberately careful: products can support a route, but they do not promise instant pH, GH or KH results.

End route

Not sure how much to add?

Use the route guidance before building a heavy botanical layout, especially for shrimp, nano and soft-water tanks.
