Essential details and safety
Use slowly, observe livestock and avoid chasing instant changes. BBA product pages are guidance for careful aquarium use, not veterinary or medical advice.
Preparation notes
- Rinse botanicals in fresh water before use.
- Optional: pre-soak leaves, pods and cones in hot water for 20–30 minutes to help them sink and soften.
- Do not rinse powdered foods, bee pollen, mulberry, snowflake or pellets before feeding.
- Add botanicals gradually rather than all at once, especially in smaller aquariums.
- Feed bee pollen, mulberry, snowflake and pellets in small portions according to stock level.
- Observe livestock response and water quality before increasing the amount used.
Safety notes
- Bee pollen should be used sparingly because a little goes a long way.
- Do not overfeed. Remove excess uneaten food where necessary.
- Add botanicals gradually, especially in smaller aquariums or very soft-water systems.
- Carbon filters, Purigen and some filtration media may reduce visible tannins and water colour.
- Natural products vary in size, shape, colour and texture.
- Some botanicals may float at first and sink later; pre-soaking can help.
- This product may support a more natural grazing environment, but it is not a livestock-care shortcut and does not replace proper care or treatment.
- No instant pH promise and no livestock-care shortcut claim.
- Remove if livestock show stress.

Method reminders
Prepare, add gradually, observe
How should this be introduced?
Prepare as appropriate, add a small amount first and watch livestock and water clarity for 24-72 hours before adding more.
Is natural variation normal?
Yes. Botanical and prepared aquarium products can vary in size, colour, shape, texture, tint and breakdown speed.
Does this guarantee water parameter changes?
No. The BBA method is deliberately careful: products can support a route, but they do not promise instant pH, GH or KH results.
