USE, TEST & ADJUST

PREPARE
A light rinse is optional if you want to reduce dust and temporary cloudiness.
START
Use around 100g per 100L as a gentle starting amount. This is a use guide, not the same as the selected pack size.
PLACE
For controlled filter use, place the coral in the included media bag in a high-flow filter or sump area. Suitable substrate use is also supported.
TEST
Check pH and KH over the following 7-14 days. Also monitor GH and livestock response.
ADJUST
Increase, reduce or remove the amount gradually in response to test results and the aquarium.

PARAMETER RESPONSE & LIMITS

CARBONATE / KH SUPPORT
Crushed coral and aragonite can support carbonate availability, alkalinity and KH in suitable aquarium conditions.
pH BUFFERING CONTEXT
The material can support pH buffering where the starting water and existing buffering allow it.
MINERAL HARDNESS
Mineral hardness may increase, but no specific GH change is promised.
VARIABLE RESPONSE
No fixed pH, KH or GH target is guaranteed. Response depends on the starting water, existing buffering, amount used and aquarium conditions.

CARE / REMOVE / REPLACE

OBSERVE
Use water tests and livestock response to decide whether the amount should remain, be reduced or be removed.
REPLACE / REFRESH
Use condition and parameter response rather than a fixed replacement timetable.
LIMIT
Long-lasting does not mean a guaranteed lifespan, exhaustion point, reuse method or regeneration schedule.
CaribSea Crushed Coral / Aragonite in aquarium use

Product story

CaribSea Crushed Coral / Aragonite in use

Slow-acting aragonite crushed coral for pH/KH buffering and mineral support in suitable freshwater, cichlid, snail, marine and harder-water aquariums.

Why aquarists use it

Freshwater aquariums with low KH where pH stability is a problem, African cichlid and Rift Lake aquariums

What it does

It supports a more natural, observed aquarium route when introduced gradually and used alongside stable husbandry.

What it does not do

It does not replace stable husbandry, diagnose livestock problems, cure disease or promise instant water-parameter changes.

SAFE USE

  • Introduce conservatively and test rather than adding a large amount at once.
  • Do not use this route where the aquarium must remain soft and acidic, including many specialist soft-water and Caridina setups.
  • Monitor pH, KH, GH and livestock response; reduce or remove the media if the result is unsuitable.
  • Mineral dust and fines may be present. Keep the material away from children and pets and do not ingest it.

Product-specific answers

FAQ

Will Crushed Coral / Aragonite raise pH and KH?

It can support KH, alkalinity and pH buffering, but the response depends on the starting water, existing buffering, amount used and aquarium conditions. No fixed target is guaranteed.

How should I know whether I need more?

Test pH and KH over 7-14 days and watch the aquarium before increasing the amount. Adjust gradually rather than adding more to chase a target.

Does every coral option include a media bag?

Yes. Each of the eight crushed-coral/aragonite weight options includes one media/rinse bag. The separate bag-only option is available if you want an additional spare and contains no coral.
