Build the route
Build a Bakuli, cones and leaf-litter route
Use this starter box as a staged route: begin with a few leaves and cones, then add Bakuli pods slowly while observing tint, clarity and livestock behaviour.

A simple aquarium botanical starter box with Bakuli pods, Casuarina cones, Alder cones, Oak leaves, Beech leaves, Banana leaf pieces and small Indian almond/Catappa leaves. Designed for shrimp, betta, nano, blackwater and natural planted aquariums, it adds leaf-litter detail, grazing surfaces, small cover points, gentle tannins and natural botanical texture.
Why aquarists use it
Shrimp tanks, Neocaridina and Caridina aquariums
What it does
It supports a more natural, observed aquarium route when introduced gradually and used alongside stable husbandry.
What it does not do
It does not replace stable husbandry, diagnose livestock problems, cure disease or promise instant water-parameter changes.

Essential details and safety
Use slowly, observe livestock and avoid chasing instant changes. BBA product pages are guidance for careful aquarium use, not veterinary or medical advice.
Preparation notes
- Rinse before use to remove dust from natural drying and handling. Do not use soap or chemicals. For a cleaner start, soak or briefly boil before adding to the aquarium. Some leaves, pods and cones may float at first and may need soaking until they sink. Add gradually, especially in nano or lightly filtered aquariums, and monitor your water as you normally would when adding natural materials. Remove or replace botanicals once they have broken down to your preference.
Safety notes
- For ornamental freshwater aquarium / hobby use only.
- Botanicals are natural habitat and enrichment tools, not substitutes for stable aquarium care.
- Not for human consumption.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Natural product: leaves, pods and cones will vary in size, shape, colour and texture.
- Always rinse before use.
- Add gradually, especially in smaller aquariums, nano tanks or very soft / low-KH water.
- No instant pH promise and no livestock-care shortcut claim.
- Remove if livestock show stress.

Method reminders
Prepare, add gradually, observe
How should this be introduced?
Prepare as appropriate, add a small amount first and watch livestock and water clarity for 24-72 hours before adding more.
Is natural variation normal?
Yes. Botanical and prepared aquarium products can vary in size, colour, shape, texture, tint and breakdown speed.
Does this guarantee water parameter changes?
No. The BBA method is deliberately careful: products can support a route, but they do not promise instant pH, GH or KH results.
