Honest suitability guide

Do Not Buy This If...

Botanicals are beautiful, useful habitat materials, but they are not suitable for every tank, expectation or emergency. This page helps customers choose with confidence.

Trust through honesty

A good store tells customers when not to add more.

BBA would rather guide a customer toward a safer route than encourage a rushed purchase that does not fit the tank.

Before buying

When botanicals may be the wrong next step.

This is not designed to scare customers away. It protects the tank, the livestock and the customer relationship.

A

Do not buy if you want instant pH miracles

BBA botanicals are not chemical pH control products. BBA cannot promise a specific pH, GH or KH number because water chemistry depends on KH, GH, source water, substrate, stocking and maintenance.

B

Do not buy if your tank is unstable

Do not add botanicals to a tank with ammonia or nitrite problems. Cycling tanks need stability first, and distressed livestock needs water testing and appropriate corrective action.

C

Do not buy if you dislike amber water

Blackwater and botanical setups can tint the water. If you want crystal-clear water, choose carefully, start with very small amounts or ask BBA before ordering.

D

Do not buy if you expect identical natural pieces

Natural pods, leaves, cones, bark and wood vary in size, shape, colour, texture, floating time and tannin release. Variation is normal, not a defect.

E

Do not buy if you plan to add everything at once

BBA recommends gradual use, especially for shrimp, nano tanks and soft-water systems. Add a small first layer, then observe 24-72 hours before adding more.

F

Do not buy if you expect illness treatment

Botanicals are not medicines, not veterinary treatment and not medical advice. For disease, injury, poisoning or severe distress, seek qualified aquatic or veterinary support and test water.

Better route if unsure

If you are unsure, do not guess.

This page is here to slow the decision down, not scare customers away. If the tank is ready, the BBA Method and What to Expect page will help you restart safely.
